 October 5, 2026: Rebecca Carpenter will share her expertise in a presentation called “Storytelling Using Photoshop – Compositing and Layered Effects”

Rebecca (Becky) will demonstrate a myriad of ways to use Photoshop to composite images together to create a final composition. She will show how she photographs items to composite later, uses layers and blending modes in Photoshop to create a realistic composite image, and incorporates her own overlays to add a vintage or surreal appearance to the final image. She will also touch on decision making about creating a digital versus three-dimensional collage using her photography and ways to plan for composite shooting ahead of time.

Becky has lived in this area for five years after moving around for decades with her husband (who was in the Army) and daughter. She taught art K-12 for many years but now enjoys traveling and photography too much to be tied down to a set schedule. She primarily enjoys creating with photography and mixed-media collage. She photographs the figure in abandoned spaces and the landscape and often travels to interesting spots for photo shoots. Becky has been part of many solo exhibitions in galleries in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania and part of numerous juried exhibits along the east coast. She also teaches workshops on photographic transfers and mixed-media collage. Some of her composite images have won awards, as well as many of her figurative photographs.
