“Art Comes From The Heart” – Clyde Butcher ZOOM

October 5, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm EDT

On October 5 at 7:30, Clyde Butcher, the world renowned, very large format, Florida Everglades photographer will hold a special Zoom session for Berks Photographic Society members titled “Art Comes From The Heart”. Clyde will explain how he graduated in architecture in 1964 & how he became a professional landscape photographer in 1969, first in B&W, then in color, and how he made a living at it. Then he’ll go into his current life…the change back to b&w, images of his darkroom, galleries, and, of course his b&w images with stories of taking the photo. He began with a tiny camera that held one piece of 35mm film to 8×10” & 12×20” view cameras, and then, after his recent stroke, to his small Leica. Mr. Butcher’s story is one of determination and perseverance.

Clyde has been called the next Ansel Adams by Popular Photography magazine, awarded as a humanitarian for acting for the betterment of his community, and recognized as a conservationist for bringing issues to the forefront of public consciousness through his art. His photography transcends political boundaries, challenging us to work together to protect natural places across the globe. With his work exhibited worldwide, Clyde’s heartfelt commitment to record precious landscapes and peaceful sanctuaries throughout the world finds a common ground between all viewers. More than 10,000 people have viewed Clyde’s 2012TEDxSarasota YouTube presentation, and he has been featured in six PBS programs focused on the Florida environment, three becoming award-winning documentaries. His work is captured in multiple table-top books, including America the Beautiful, a collection of work from across the United States; Big Cypress Swamp ~ The Western Everglades; and Portfolio II ~ Florida.
