From fun kitchen techniques such as making abstracts with oil and water\, or throwing fruit into a fishbowl\, to photographing macro water droplet refractions\, there is no shortage of new ideas! Betsy’s husband Jim has worked with speedlights and multi-flash to create fascinating portraits\, and Betsy explores still life photography through her unique perspective\, introducing some new still life styles not shared before in this fast-paced inspirational presentation. \nBetsy Wilson began learning photography after retiring from a career as a newspaper publisher.  Her husband Jim gave her his hand-me-down camera and a lot of encouragement\, and he now says he created a monster.  Her passion for photography includes a wide variety of types including macro\, landscape and nature photography.   In addition to being honored as Photographer of the Year Award at the Chester County Camera Club\, she has received numerous recognitions for her artistic photography including a Silver Medal awarded at the Wilmington International Exhibition of Photography\, and First Place Award in Photography at the Philadelphia Flower Show.  Betsy is an active member of the Chester County Camera Club\, and has given numerous presentations for camera clubs in many states.

She will then move into a presentation on Architectural Photography as Fine Art. Sharon will delve into the captivating world of architectural photography\, shedding light on the diverse forms of capturing art within the built environment. Through a series of striking visuals & insightful commentary\, Sharon will introduce the myriad techniques & perspectives employed by photographers to immortalize architectural masterpieces. From dramatic black & white compositions that emphasize form & texture to vibrant color images that highlight the interplay of light & shadow\, this presentation will showcase the artistic versatility of architectural photography. Sharon will explore the use of different angles\, focal lengths & framing techniques to convey a sense of scale\, depth & emotional impact. A true craftsman\, he works across all film formats — from 35mm and medium format to large format — and is also an accomplished wet plate collodion photographer\, keeping one of photography’s earliest processes alive through meticulous\, hands-on artistry. Beyond image-making\, Bill is an avid camera collector\, curating a personal archive spanning the history of photography — from 19th-century brass and mahogany masterpieces to modern mechanical marvels. Among the treasures in his collection is a fully functional 1912 Kodak 7A studio camera\, a reminder of the enduring beauty and ingenuity of analog tools. Driven by a deep respect for photographic heritage and a passion for experimentation\, Bill continues to explore the interplay between light\, chemistry\, and time — crafting images that honor the roots of the medium while offering a timeless perspective on the world. \nThe “tintype” or “wet plate collodion” process is the second oldest form of photography and dates back to the early 1850’s. Bill will share a brief history of the process and what it takes to make a tintype. Through a live demonstration\, Bill will share the magic\, precision\, and unpredictability of this handmade process — from pouring collodion to developing plates in real time.

DESCRIPTION:In the era of film\, we knew that the perfect exposure was not accomplished at the negative alone\, but in a combined effort of pre-visualization\, camera exposure\, negative development\, the choice of paper\, chemistry\, exposure at the enlarger & finally the processing time in the chemistry. This end to end approach to exposure allowed us to take very challenging exposure situations & manage them to get the perfect final print. But somehow\, in the transition to digital (like in everything in the digital world) photographers have become laxed & expect that their camera’s sensor should just provide them with the perfect exposure out of the camera. DESCRIPTION: May 4\, 2026 at 7:00 PM: Ken Martin & Angela Blimline will share “An Evening of B/W Film Developing with Angela and Ken” \nJoin us at the Goggle works in Suite 326 for an evening of developing Black and White negative film. \nWe will complete the developing of one roll of B/W film from loading the film onto a developing reel\, loading into the developing tank\, pouring the chemicals\, and producing a developed roll of film\, all in under 15 minutes\, from start to finish. \nWe will also discuss all aspects of film development to include not only B/W negative film\, but also the steps to develop color negative film. \nWe will be reviewing all the equipment needed for development\, including the different chemicals needed for color and B/W\, where to buy them and cost examples.  Of course\, a film camera is required to expose the negative film\, and we will show some camera examples\, and discuss the different types of cameras and film. \nAngela will discuss the scanning techniques and the preservation of negatives and Ken will explain EAS. \nIf you ever were thinking about getting back into film shooting\, and developing your own film at home\, this presentation is for you. (it’s actually cheaper to develop film at home than a lab\, and it is fun too.)

DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nAbstraction is often where clarity falters & imagination begins. Many photographers find themselves uneasy here – between what is seen & what is felt\, between subject & sensation. Yet it’s in this uncertain territory that some of the most original & personal work is born. \nIn this presentation\, Doug will explore what it means to see abstractly – to move beyond representation & into perception\, intuition & response. Together\, we’ll look at how to loosen control\, embrace ambiguity & cultivate the mental space where unexpected images emerge. The audience will discover practical ways to translate that awareness into compelling visual form\, using their camera & their own sensitivity as creative instruments. \nIn the second half of this session\, Doug will demonstrate how he takes raw\, ordinary photographs & transforms them into expressive abstractions\, using Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop in unconventional ways that align with his creative intent. \nThis session is both a meditation & a workshop – a chance to stand at the edge of the un-thought\, to look beyond what one know & perhaps to rediscover the excitement of making images that surprise even us. \n  \nDoug comes to us from the UK. In Doug’s own words: “I am primarily influenced by & draw inspiration from Abstract Expressionist painters such as Hodgkin\, Feiler\, Rae & Ryman. No worries… backyard wildlife photography offers an ideal blend of accessibility and challenge\, and the presentation will walk viewers through the fundamentals that make it successful. We’ll start with practical techniques for identifying local species and creating habitat features that bring birds and mammals within photographic range. From there\, we’ll discuss dependable camera settings for fast-moving wildlife\, strategies for working with common backyard birds—woodpeckers\, bluebirds\, and hummingbirds—and approaches for managing light\, backgrounds\, and behavior. \n  \nWe’ll also introduce sensor-based triggers and remote flashes for capturing elusive nocturnal animals. Whether you’re looking to improve technical sharpness\, diversify your portfolio\, or simply enjoy wildlife more deeply\, the hope is that you’ll come away with tools you can apply immediately in your own yard. \n  \nJacqui Burke is a small animal veterinarian when she is not busy photographing. She has loved animals all her life and values the rich natural history of wild animals. DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nThe multi award winning photographer & actor Bill Ward was born & raised in Newcastle-upon-Tyne\, England. Bill will give us a very personal insight into his unique photographic journey. He’ll discuss his background & his acting career\, before going on to discuss the photographs that he takes (all three are closely related) & why he takes them. He’ll cover the full range of his work\, from his contemporary seascapes\, landscapes & cityscapes to his distinctive “Creative Photography” projects (ICM\, In-camera multiple exposures\, and abstracts) – a genre in which he’s been a leading practitioner for over a decade. Expect plenty of unexpected twists & turns\, & an awful lot of pictures.  \n  \nBill Ward is an extremely accomplished photographer. He was awarded the Adobe Prize at the 2015 UK Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards (also Commended 2013 and 2020)\, Best Seascape at the 2020 Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards\, & runner up in the Creative Photography category at SLPOTY 2021. His work is frequently Commended\, Shortlisted & Nominated in competitions all over the world. He is a judge for UK Landscape Photographer of the Year. \n  \nBill’s work has been exhibited in numerous fine art galleries around the UK\, including the Mick Oxley Gallery in Northumberland\, Contemporary Six & the Wendy J Levy Gallery in Manchester\, & has been featured in newspapers\, magazines\, advertising campaigns & books. He’s been a regular writer & contributor for the worldwide “ICM Photography Magazine” since its inception\, & gives talks at festivals\, shows\, & camera clubs all over the world. DESCRIPTION:September 21\, 2026:  Vincent Versace will give a talk entitled “Breath Taking: A Brief Discussion of Timelessness with Vincent Versace” \nThe outside speaker to begin our last quarter of 2026 is Vincent Versace. He is an American photographer & a Nikon Ambassador. He is a recipient of the Computerworld Smithsonian Award in Media Arts & Entertainment & the Andre Shellenberg Award for Fine Art. His work is part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History. \nAt age 9\, Versace sold his first photo to a local newspaper for $50 using a garage sale purchased Nikon rangefinder camera. In high school\, he photographed weddings. Versace later attended Wayne State University\, the University of Michigan\, the American Conservatory Theater\, Boston University College of Fine Arts & the USC Film School. \nIn 1991\, Versace was Epson America & Nikon’s first beta tester for digital printers & cameras. He was the artist in residence at the Altamira Group & a consultant to the President of Kodak’s Digital & Applied Imaging Group. He was a featured guest speaker at the 1998 National convention of Professional Photographers of America & was asked to be part of the Vision Gallery at the 1999 Fall Seybold Show. Versace was commissioned by the San Francisco Presidio National Trust to create a body of photographic work to permanently capture the 1480 acre forest that is a National Park & Historic Landmark. He was instrumental in the development of Nik Software & was the original host of the Epson Print Academy. \nIn addition to being one of Nikon’s founding Ambassadors\, Versace is also a brand ambassador for Epson Stylus Pro\, the X-rite Coloratti Gallery\, Lexar\, Westcott University & BenQ monitors. He speaks publicly & consults for these companies\, along with OnOne\, Adobe & other photography tech companies. \nVersace has taught\, traveled & shot extensively around the world for American Photo Mentor Treks & other travel workshops companies in Iceland\, Egypt\, Morocco\, Argentina\, Chile & Uruguay. A member of the board of directors for Palm Beach Photographic Centre\, he also leads their workshops to Cuba\, Peru\, India\, Burma\, Vietnam & Cambodia. During one of his trips to Burma\, he photographed Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi. \nDomestically\, Versace has taught photography & conducted workshops at B&H\, the FBI\, US Navy Combat Camera\, US Coast Guard\, Photoshop World\, Maine Media Workshops\, American Photo Master Classes & Santa Fe Workshops. He has given talks at Talks At Google & teaches through his own company\, Acme Educational. \nA member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals Dream Team\, he has been recognized with the creation of the Vincent Versace Award for Digital Photography Excellence\, also called “The Vinnie.” \nVincent Versace’s talk is titled “Breath Taking: A Brief Discussion of Timelessness with Vincent Versace”. Every artist has an instrument. But only photographers have a superpower\, which is the power to freeze time. The greatest photographs are the ones that have the feel of a breath held expectant. An instant of time when the photographer was so taken by the moment. The gasp of awe of that moment caused the shutter to be released. The breath of the instant of time forever held in an image. Motion caught in stillness. \nA photographer holds within their hands something mightier than sword or pen. They wield a camera. But to use it effectively\, you need to understand the key elements that comprise an image. DESCRIPTION: October 5\, 2026: Rebecca Carpenter will share her expertise in a presentation called “Storytelling Using Photoshop – Compositing and Layered Effects” \nRebecca (Becky) will demonstrate a myriad of ways to use Photoshop to composite images together to create a final composition. She will show how she photographs items to composite later\, uses layers and blending modes in Photoshop to create a realistic composite image\, and incorporates her own overlays to add a vintage or surreal appearance to the final image. She will also touch on decision making about creating a digital versus three-dimensional collage using her photography and ways to plan for composite shooting ahead of time. \nBecky has lived in this area for five years after moving around for decades with her husband (who was in the Army) and daughter. She taught art K-12 for many years but now enjoys traveling and photography too much to be tied down to a set schedule. She primarily enjoys creating with photography and mixed-media collage. She photographs the figure in abandoned spaces and the landscape and often travels to interesting spots for photo shoots. Becky has been part of many solo exhibitions in galleries in Virginia\, Maryland\, and Pennsylvania and part of numerous juried exhibits along the east coast. She also teaches workshops on photographic transfers and mixed-media collage. Some of her composite images have won awards\, as well as many of her figurative photographs. DESCRIPTION:October 19\, 2026:  Keron Psillas will give a presentation called “How to Create & Maintain Inspiration & Purpose in Your Photography” \nKeron Psillas Oliveira is an artist\, author\, instructor & mentor\, with an extensive background in the print & publishing industry. She grew up in Shepherdstown\, West Virginia\, where she learned the printing & publishing industry first-hand after purchasing the family business. Keron became a professional photographer in 2006. She teaches photography courses\, book making classes\, equine photo workshops & maintains a robust mentoring program for students in the US & abroad. She is the former director of the Art Wolfe Digital Photography Center & is a longtime assistant to photographic legends Sam Abell & Arthur Meyerson. Keron is the project director for Sam Abell’s 60-year retrospective two-volume work. She leads bespoke photography tours throughout the US\, Europe & Japan. Keron now lives in Portugal. \nKeron’s work on the Holocaust (Loss and Beauty & A Song of Death and Dying) has been exhibited extensively; as has her horse photography (Cavalo Lusitano: The Spirit Within from Veritas Editions)\, most notably at the Griffin Museum of Photography. Each of these projects has received international awards. Cavalo Lusitano resides in the Rare Book Collections of the Library of Congress\, the Getty Museum & Michigan State University among many other esteemed private collections. She was the featured solo artist in the Pingyao International Photography festival of 2024 for her work Edge of Revelation\, her new collection of floral explorations. She has also created a new collection of floral textiles (Floraveira) & bespoke furniture that is receiving rave reviews. Floraveira has been shown in several venues in the US & Europe in 2025 & 2026. \nHer latest work\, A Song of Death and Dying\, is the culmination of 17 years of work in the bloodlands of Eastern Europe\, will debut in 2027 at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. The exhibition encompasses 51 images\, sound & narration\, & a video introduction by the artist to share her journey & the process developed to create this unique vision. Keron will publish a monograph to accompany the exhibition that includes all fifty-one images\, essays from two renowned scholars & an introductory conversation between the artist & scholars. \nKeron’s talk is entitled “How to Create & Maintain Inspiration & Purpose in Your Photography”. She will discuss integration\, commitment & collaboration\, among other topics\, during this session. Keron will dovetail into this presentation her thoughts on how carrying out long-term projects benefit one’s entire photographic practice. As part of this discussion\, Keron will explore with the audience two of her projects noted above\, Edge of Revelation & A Song of Death & Dying. Edge of Revelation is a five year exploration of form\, color\, serendipity & deep thought using the floral form & the evolution created through building those compositions & then freezing them.
