DESCRIPTION:October 19\, 2026:  Keron Psillas will give a presentation called “How to Create & Maintain Inspiration & Purpose in Your Photography” \nKeron Psillas Oliveira is an artist\, author\, instructor & mentor\, with an extensive background in the print & publishing industry. She grew up in Shepherdstown\, West Virginia\, where she learned the printing & publishing industry first-hand after purchasing the family business. Keron became a professional photographer in 2006. She teaches photography courses\, book making classes\, equine photo workshops & maintains a robust mentoring program for students in the US & abroad. She is the former director of the Art Wolfe Digital Photography Center & is a longtime assistant to photographic legends Sam Abell & Arthur Meyerson. Keron is the project director for Sam Abell’s 60-year retrospective two-volume work. She leads bespoke photography tours throughout the US\, Europe & Japan. Keron now lives in Portugal. \nKeron’s work on the Holocaust (Loss and Beauty & A Song of Death and Dying) has been exhibited extensively; as has her horse photography (Cavalo Lusitano: The Spirit Within from Veritas Editions)\, most notably at the Griffin Museum of Photography. Each of these projects has received international awards. Cavalo Lusitano resides in the Rare Book Collections of the Library of Congress\, the Getty Museum & Michigan State University among many other esteemed private collections. She was the featured solo artist in the Pingyao International Photography festival of 2024 for her work Edge of Revelation\, her new collection of floral explorations. She has also created a new collection of floral textiles (Floraveira) & bespoke furniture that is receiving rave reviews. Floraveira has been shown in several venues in the US & Europe in 2025 & 2026. \nHer latest work\, A Song of Death and Dying\, is the culmination of 17 years of work in the bloodlands of Eastern Europe\, will debut in 2027 at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. The exhibition encompasses 51 images\, sound & narration\, & a video introduction by the artist to share her journey & the process developed to create this unique vision. Keron will publish a monograph to accompany the exhibition that includes all fifty-one images\, essays from two renowned scholars & an introductory conversation between the artist & scholars. \nKeron’s talk is entitled “How to Create & Maintain Inspiration & Purpose in Your Photography”. She will discuss integration\, commitment & collaboration\, among other topics\, during this session. Keron will dovetail into this presentation her thoughts on how carrying out long-term projects benefit one’s entire photographic practice. As part of this discussion\, Keron will explore with the audience two of her projects noted above\, Edge of Revelation & A Song of Death & Dying. Edge of Revelation is a five year exploration of form\, color\, serendipity & deep thought using the floral form & the evolution created through building those compositions & then freezing them. In A Song of Death & Dying Keron uses the Holocaust as subject to illustrate what we destroy when we hate.
